Dual Layer Dvd R – The Redefinition For DVD

By

About Dual Layer Dvd R

The Dual Layer DVD R, as the name suggest, holds double capacity over the single layer DVD. The capacity of the single layer DVD R is 4.7 GB while the capacity of the double layer DVD R is 8.5 GB and has two layers for burning or recording. The technology was introduced to the market in the year 2003 and ever since redefined the definition of DVD and CDs. The idea is to have combination of two DVDs in one disc. The base layer is made just like the single layer DVD but atop it is a semi-transparent layer. This semi-transparent layer permits the burning or recording laser to focus on both the layer.

Recording Mechanism Of Dual Layer DVD R

Generally, Dual Layer DVD R are available in two formats, they are DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL. To record in the Dual Layer DVD R you must have a recorder that must be compatible with your DVD. Mostly, of all the DVD recorders you get in the market, some are only compatible of recording –R DVD while some are capable of recording only +R DVD. However, there are some formats that support and record both the formats and are known as hybrid recorders.

To get the best recording output of your Dual Layer DVD R consider to buying a good brand. I mention this precisely because, quality of the DVD holds primal importance for any type of application whether it is master recording, duplicating, archiving, or merely burning of DVD. So to get better performance, longevity and for universal compatibility with all most all brands try to purchase a DVD with brand name attached to it.

Verbatim Dual Layer DVD R

When I speak of importance of brand value and brand image for purchasing Dual Layer DVD R, then Verbatim is a brand you can rely on in terms of performance and quality. The brand is promoted under its parent company Mitsubishi® Kagaku media (MKM) and they were actually the first to speak of technical feasibility of 4X speed recording. The DVDs are made compatible with most of the recorders therefore reliable to spend money on.
